Almost every day that I read the news I am ashamed anew of being American. We are having a seige on Fallujah now that has killed 600 plus Iraqis in a war that we should not be in. I read an interesting opinion piece that said that in the International Laws a country has a right to resist occupation by another country, so Iraq is well within its rights, even though our current administration will peg these people as 'enemies to freedom', or 'terrorist insurgents', or whatever they call people that they dislike currently.
Yesterday Dr. Rantissi, the leader of Hamas, was assassinated by Israel using an Apache helicopter like most of their assassinations. We fund Israel, and we make the helicopters so that the Israelis can terrorize and assassinate a country that they occupy. How can we expect that another 9/11 type of thing will not happen again when we have policies that are imperialist and violent. We invade countries with muddy reasoning and we support terrorist states (truly what Israel has become) and for what? So that we can be internationally reviled? We need a new policy that incorporates common sense, and need to start realizing that violence and oppression beget the like.
It is what it is
