So here I am, at an internet cafe on the island of Skopelos in Greece. How did I get here? Well, the road trip, first of all. What a ride - a lot of fun, a great way to say goodbye to dangerrides and the humans inside of it. Detroit - Roy looked good as usual. The town is fucking abandoned and sad, but at least Tommy kicked over Roy's table. He was very nice about that. We drove all day and got to NY in the middle of the night and needed a place to booze - but you've already read about that haven't you? The drive to Boston was hell - sleeping on the floor of the van with pee bottles rolling all over the place and a splitting hangover from SoJu and...oh yeah - Molson Ice. Good idea.
Stomach so angry but I calmed it down with speed pills and tequila and we arrived in Boston no worse for the wear - except the 60 years taken off of our collective lifespans. Boston: very nice, I will be back. Steph, try as she did by insulting everyone we saw, did not get us into a fight. We sang 'Holla Back Girl' along with these girls in a chinese restaurant while drinking beer out of teacups. Everyone was awesome, great trip.
Celine was generous enough to take me back to Brooklyn to hang out with Mike for a couple days and then leave. I was not optimistic about my chances of getting out, and figured JFK would be my temporary home for a while. I walked all over Manhattan and drank with Mike's friends - good times. NY: not that friendly, covered in spray paint but one of the most fascinating places I've ever been. Big, diverse, crazy and beautiful. Wait, I meant Crazy, Beautiful.
So I meet my friend Nora in Central Pk. on...whatever fucking day I left and called Delta and they pretty much told me there was no way I would get to Athens. Hung out with Nora and got some grub and it was great to see her. Bought a shirt so that I could fly first class and set off for the airport - Desination: Milan! Got to the airport and there were open seats! Saw some lousy NY fucker fighting with a Customs agent, that was wild. Sat next to a crazy Greek-American who swore a lot and talked about how his son makes 3 mil a year...sure. Also talked about kicking peoples' asses, owning buildings in Athens, and living in Rhode Island. He told me he could get me a job in Lesbos so of course I gave him Efi's number. We'll see if this pans out...HA.
They built a train fromt he airport so no more bus to the city. Athens, wow, what a city. Not as much spray paint as NY but close. Taxi drivers refuse you passage based on where you're going, and you feel like the only non-greek in the world. So to the bus station to Volos. Luckily no one sat next to me on the bus and I could lay down and sleep for the first time in 30 hrs. Met my friend Costas in Volos after a brief panic that no one would meet me, and crashed at his place. He's always a lot of fun, and we went out for drinks that night and ate pork steak at 3:30am for some reason.
Took the ferry the next day to Skopelos - great ride. I sat outside for the 5hr trip listening to music and loving it. It was so nice my eyes teared up like Pip in Sidney. Got here and was immediately told the Island is full of crazy people. True! The work from 5:30-1:30, drink from 1:30 to 6, and sleep till 2 when they get up, have coffee and do it again. Yao. Reminds me of Nick and Jeff in Kentucky. Efi looks even more beautiful than I remember, and it shall be fun getting to know her again...but enough of that bullshit. There's a bar here where they light the walls on fire, and its owned by a German. Hmmm....everyone speaks Greek and I don't but whatever. It's weird, I guess. Still looking for employment, might be washing dishes with Albanians but that's ok. I encourage everyone to visit this bizarre place.
So that's it, I guess. Shoot me a line, or send me a pic of you giving someone a rusty trombone. Oh, and upload 'Greek' into my brain matrix.
It is what it is

You're alive, well and still in constant search of a rusty tombone. So glad to hear nothing's changed.

your central park Ron-Day-Voo with that girl sounded like it was straight out of catcher in the rye.
there really IS an island called "Lesbos"? I can't tell whose being sarcastic and whose being serious! Confusing day.
Will, I hope you can keep updating us; it was good to hear about your travels and find out you made it to Skopelos in one piece. Now we'll see if you return in one piece. Or at all.
