I started a job this week - Joe's old job that he hooked me up with. It was very nice of him - thanks Joe. It's a nice place to work - an ad firm downtown. People are all really friendly and the staff is real young and energetic. I'm just the lowly front desk guy, but whatever. Rudy told me he wanted to be one of those secretarial people because in his line of work, telemarketing, he's always talking to our ilk, and he's jealous of our power to transfer calls to extentions. It's a good thing.
The first week was a little rough because I had the flu. How's that? I started to get the flu on Tuesday, and tried to pretend like I wasn't getting sick. By the evening it was undeniable. I was sore all over, my throat was ragged, and I was icy cold. Wednesday, the first day of work, was also the main day of the flu for me. I couldn't call in sick. It was miserable. I spent the day training while at the same time trying to ignore how cold I was, how much I hurt, how dizzy I was, and how much I wanted to sleep. On my lunch break I walked to Millenium Park and slept in the sun. It was a hot day, and that is out of character for me, but I was so cold. When I finally got home, after taking the wrong train to Hinsdale accidentally, I went immediately to sleep. I slept for 12 hours, waking up Thursday to go to work again. I feel I really earned my money this week. It feels wonderful to feel good again.
I should be moving into Nick's after he leaves next week. It'll be sweet living down there, and I'm especially looking forward to the bike commute. I'll probably have to grab an extra job. No worries. The picture is the view from the windows of the good offices at the building of my new job.

are you sure you didn't have feline aids? it's the number 1 killer of domestic cats.
Tommy's right, Will. Maybe you should get tested. The tracy's cat has it and you do have that small addiction to raping cats. Knowledge is power, ya know?
Nice pic, will.
And speaking of power...at the risk of sounding new aged and soft brained ...
someone once told me that the corner of the river and Boul Mich is chicago's main energy vortex....as in "sedona, AZ. has many energy vortexs."
can't say i was ever buzzed by a walk over that bridge ouside your windiw. still there is a major historical vibe at your corner location; ie first structure by a non-native person, cabin of jean baptiste dusable.
then there 's the south/west corner wth its brass sidewalk star indicating the warm welcome given to the second structure....Fort Dearborn, a military installation of US army torched by pissed off natives....touchy, touchy.
when in the 1920 's the bridge linking north and south michigan ave went up, its tender was my irish immigrant grandfather for the next few decades
tired. about to do a head dive into keys.

Summer Sickness is the worst. Spread that misery around. You should cough on everyones mail then exclaim 'Someones got a case of the Mondays!'. Yeah that would work.
