All people can talk about these days is the weather - and with good reason. The Chicago River has been freezing more and more everyday, and it looks unreal. This first picture is from my building looking down on the Michigan Avenue bridge.

It wasn't the most fun day to bike home.

You've got to love it though, because Chicago winters are what gives us our thick skin and character. Next time you complain think to yourself, 'Would I rather be a Floridian?'

My car slid into a bank today, and it's still there right now!
I was more sad about not coming home in time for snowball fights with friends than anything else though.

Those are some awesome pictures Will. I think the bears flag across the street is hung just below the City of Chicago Flag on the same pole in your last picture. At first I glance though, I thought it was actually by itself, and hanging at half-mast as if in mourning of a disaster.
Don't know how you do it - I'm a fair weather cyclist. The wait for the 66 Chicago bus is bad enough...cool pics, the water looks absolutely forbidding.
I might've agreed with you yesterday in principle that this weather builds our unique character as Chicagoans.
But then I had to wait 30 minutes for a bus ride home at 10 PM, then get in my car to drive into the loop to help Jeff G with a flat tire, during which I was outside for another near-hour trying to fit a spare that was just barely to large for his Civic's hub.
I loathe thee, February.
this weather makes me want to have a baby, get sued, then kill myself ala anna nicole. there. the chicago weather brings out my ragey character.
