New Bike!

Well, I may not need a new bike, but I've got an addiction to feed. I bought a 1971 Raleigh Sports 3-speed, a bike I've been wanting to get for quite some time. It's a beauty to look at and a beauty to ride. Here she is with my old Viscount waiting to be fixed up in the background.

She's looking pretty in the big city. My sad imprisoned Schwinn is in the background, as well as an idling cop car. This underscores why it's going to be tough to steal my own bicycle back. My OnGuard bicycle lock mechanically froze, and can't be unlocked. Don't buy this brand of lock EVER - there are serious quality control issues.

I bought this bike for a very fair price from this bike shop that Erich found on the north side. He bought a Motobecane which the shop owner customized from a 10-speed to a single speed with freewheel. I'll let him post a picture of that one himself. If anyone is in the market for a used bike I highly recommend this place. Ron, the proprietor, is down to earth and doesn't bullshit. You tell him what you want and he'll try to make it happen. I'm planning to bring my Viscount into him early spring to have it converted to either a fixie or single speed.

Here's the shop information:
A Nearly New Shop (Recycled Bikes) - 3826 N Broadway - Mon-Sat 11-8pm - 773.525.0692

Here's another picture of the frozen river I snapped yesterday looking west from the Clark Street bridge, just for fun. Have a good weekend all...
